CFAR 2020 candidates all commit to promote, sponsor or co-sponsor, and vote in favor of legislation for all of the following:
- Medicare-For-All: Immediately instituting Medicare-For-All, single-payer health insurance, guaranteeing universal, high-quality health care to every U.S. citizen.
- Getting Big Money Out of Politics: Overturning Citizens United and related judicial decisions and immediately initiating comprehensive campaign finance reform banning big money in politics, especially targeting “dark money” and corporate contributions.
- Minimum Wage: Immediately raising the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour.
- Green New Deal: Initiating all features of the Green New Deal supported by significant majorities of U.S. citizens, including but not limited to: massive government investment for rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure; investment in clean, energy-efficient public transit such as high-speed rail; jobs programs which guarantee employment paying a livable wage; providing all Americans with affordable housing, economic security, healthy and affordable food, clean air and water, and a healthy environment; implementing bold measures to address climate change, cultivating through investment and tax incentives sustainable sources of energy, as alternatives to fossil fuels.
- Expanding Social Security: Expanding social security by raising or eliminating the cap on taxable income; increasing benefits by at least 10% for all eligible recipients.
- Reducing Military Budget: Reducing the military budget by a minimum of 20%. Ending the undeclared wars in the Middle East; ending the unnecessary military exploits across the globe, except where absolutely required to protect the safety of American citizens, and to defend the nation from overt, verifiable aggression.
- Reforming Corporate Tax Policies: Reforming tax regulations to discourage corporations from shifting their profits and jobs overseas to avoid paying U.S. income taxes; enacting a universal transaction tax on Wall Street trading to discourage reckless speculation.
- Electoral System Reform: Reforming our entire electoral system, including but not limited to: requiring paper ballots, and fully accountable, transparent procedures and mechanisms for recording, collecting, storing, counting, and recounting votes; implementing procedures which encourage and facilitate voter registration and easy access to voting and polling places.
- Prison System Reform: Reforming our racially-biased, for-profit incarceration system; eliminating all incentives, especially profit incentives, for filling our prisons.
- Fair Individual Tax Policies: Instituting fair taxation policies to relieve the onerous tax burden now borne by the middle and lower classes; closing tax loopholes, especially targeting tax avoidance using offshore tax havens; introducing appropriate parallel increases to capital gains and corporate tax rates.
- Net Neutrality: Instituting complete and unrestricted Net Neutrality.
- Tuition Free College: Making tuition free at public colleges and universities throughout America.
